Weather Shield Showcases New, On-Trend Window And Door Offerings At 2018 International Builders’ Show

MEDFORD, Wis. – December 6, 2017 – Designer-focused options, affordable luxury and expansive views meet the latest architect, custom home builder and homeowner preferences for windows and doors. Weather Shield will debut an array of new product offerings that align with the latest window and door trends at the 2018 NAHB International Builders’ Show (IBS) in Orlando, Florida, from January 9-11, 2018.

“For 2018, we identify three major trends emerging in the fenestration market: designer-focused options, affordable luxury and expansive views,” said Chris Schield, vice president of product marketing. “We’re pleased to be at the forefront of these trends and offer product innovations that continue to meet the needs of architects, homebuilders, and homeowners.”

Designer-Focused Options
Aesthetics continue to play a major role in consumer window and door selections, where hardware styles and finish options are among their top priorities.

In partnership with industry-leading hardware suppliers Ashley Norton, Baldwin®, Hoppe®,  and EMTEK®, Weather Shield introduces a large expansion to its handle sets to offer customers additional design flexibility and customization. Starting in early 2018, Weather Shield will offer 39 new handle sets available in a range of styles and finishes for the hinged patio doors within its Contemporary Collection™Premium Series™, and Premium Coastal™ product lines.

Weather Shield will also unveil 10 new furniture-grade stain offerings created in partnership with leading paint and coatings manufacturer Sherwin-Williams®. Available in a breadth of dark to light tones, the new stain offerings provide clean, vivid finishes, along with excellent clarity and uniformity.

Both the expanded handle set options and new stain selections will be available in early 2018 for the Contemporary Collection, Premium Series, and Premium Coastal product lines.

Affordable Luxury
Additionally, beginning in Feb. 2018, the popular Weather Shield Signature Series™ will provide expanded options that give architects, builders, and homeowners even more choices for customization in one of Weather Shield’s economical window and door product lines.

The Weather Shield Signature Series will feature various updates, including:

  • Expanded wood species options with the addition of Mixed Grain Fir and Character Alder, for a total of three choices that include the already-popular Pine
  • New all-wood interior sash for Casement and Awning Windows, which can also be painted or stained for even more customization
  • New hardware styles for Double Hung Windows that allow for flush or surface-mounted choices, as well as an array of colors to suit any taste
  • Updated Double Hung Window aesthetic that features slimmer lines with more visible glass for a more modern look that still stays true to its traditional style

Expansive Views
In addition to its Signature Series updates, Weather Shield will also feature various product innovations that embrace the shared space movement and offer more expansive views.

First, Weather Shield has upgraded one of its most popular product offerings, Bi-Fold Patio Doors, and engineered a new line of Bi-Fold Windows. With a flexible configuration and multiple styles and design options, Bi-Fold Windows and Doors offer exciting new options for opening living spaces to the outdoors and creating striking entryways into adjoining interior spaces. The upgraded windows and doors are available immediately for the Contemporary Collection as well as the Premium Series product lines.

Weather Shield will also showcase its expanded Oversized Direct Set Windows, which feature floor-to-ceiling glass and slim-line direct glaze rectangular frames that maximize the viewing area. Available now in the Contemporary Collection and Premium Series product lines, these windows offer glass expanded  from 60 square feet to 70 square feet to satisfy architects and homebuilders who desire larger unobstructed views.

Show attendees will also have the first look at two new prototype products: the Weather Shield Curtain Wall and Visions® Contemporary Direct Set Windows.

Inspired by commercial applications that feature seamless walls of glass, the new Curtain Wall will nearly eliminate the indoor/outdoor barrier by transforming an entire residential wall into a window. Additionally, the new Visions Contemporary Direct Set Windows will feature expanded interior and exterior colors in a vinyl window offering, including the trending Jet Black.
