Weather Shield Debuts New Window And Door Innovations At 2019 International Builders’ Show

MEDFORD, Wis. – January 31, 2019  Weather Shield Windows & Doors will premiere various new products to meet architect, custom homebuilder, and homeowner preferences at the 2019 NAHB International Builders’ Show (IBS) in Las Vegas, Nevada, from February 19-21, 2019.

The new offerings are focused in three key trend areas: reimagined door solutions, a curated contemporary product portfolio, and enhanced architectural offerings.

“With all product introductions, we begin by understanding the solutions sought by the customer and develop purposeful innovation that addresses these customer needs,” said Chris Schield, vice president of product marketing. “This year we’re pleased to again be at the forefront of the latest industry trends with product offerings that satisfy the shared space movement, provide superior performance, and offer larger sizes and expanses of glass, as well as expanded customization options that offer more choices to discerning homebuilders, architects, and homeowners.”

Reimagined Door Solutions

Doors are a key element in the popular shared space movement, which includes designs that maximize views and seamlessly connect indoor/outdoor shared spaces.

Weather Shield will debut its Contemporary Collection Next Gen Sliding Patio Door, which is transforming the sliding door category with larger sizes, improved overall performance, superior operation, and an advanced sill design. Where other sliding doors may force consumers to make choices between narrow profiles and higher performance, this reimagined design delivers both.

Also, the Contemporary Collection Bi-Fold Patio Door and Premium Series Bi-Fold Patio Door now include an advanced, low-profile sill option that delivers optimum performance against even the harshest elements. The new low-profile, 1.25-inch sill features leading water performance relative to sill height and integrates with finished flooring for a seamless transition free from potential trip hazards.

Weather Shield has partnered with leading hardware supplier, HOPPE®North America, to bring exclusive hardware to the Bi-Fold Doors, which eliminates visible hardware to offer improved aesthetics and intuitive operation. These offerings will be available later this year.

Curated Contemporary Product Portfolio

Contemporary window and door design continues to capture the attention of architects and homeowners alike, where simple lines, more exposed glass, and high-end finishes and hardware are focal points in creating modern homes and commercial spaces.

In line with this design aesthetic, the Weather Shield Contemporary Collection has expanded to include a new line of Push-Out Casement and Awning Windows.

The new windows feature narrow profile frames and sash for a modern appearance. Additionally, offering window heights of up to 7 feet, they provide more exposed glass and expansive views to satisfy the most discerning tastes for a contemporary design. Plus, a newly redesigned hinged screen includes concealed hinges, a new screen frame, and integrated rare earth magnets for improved operation.

Weather Shield will also showcase its Oversized Direct Set Windows that feature floor-to-ceiling glass up to 70 square feet with slim-line direct glaze rectangular frames that provide larger, unobstructed views. And new for 2019, the windows are now available in a flush frame option as well.

Further, inspired by commercial applications that feature seamless walls of glass, Weather Shield’s new Curtain Wall nearly eliminates the indoor/outdoor barrier by transforming an entire residential wall into a window.

Enhanced Architectural Offerings

In addition, Weather Shield is launching its new Retractable Screen option for Casement Windows, which will be available for its Contemporary Collection and Premium Series.

Featuring one-touch retraction with a balanced operation, the new Retractable Screen offers a seamless appearance with no visible track system or exposed screen canister. The new Retractable Screen also features a wood guide bar with a well-designed valence to create an upscale, low-profile appearance.

Based on the Premium Series line, Weather Shield will also debut its new all-wood window offering, which features historically accurate details, a wide range of exterior brickmould options, and monumental Double Hung Window sizes that range up to 5 feet in width by 10 feet in height. Available starting late 2019, these new windows are well suited for historical restoration projects or applications where exact architectural detail is required.

Additionally, Weather Shield will showcase its premium designer stain offerings from Sherwin-Williams®that are available in a range of dark to light tones. The stain offerings provide a furniture-grade finish, meaning they have a visual appearance that reflects a fine, high-quality piece of furniture with a consistent finish throughout the window or door.
