Weather Shield Debuts New Designer Focused Hardware And Finish Options

MEDFORD, Wis. – January 18, 2018 New handle sets and furniture-grade stain finishes offer premium upgrades for window and door design flexibility and customization. Aesthetics continue to play a major role in consumer window and door selections, where  hardware styles and finish options are among their top priorities.

Remaining at the forefront of innovation, Weather Shield has partnered with industry leaders in the home  and building industry to provide expanded hardware and premium finish options for additional window and door design customization.

These expansions mean even more options for homeowners to make their window and door selections a reflection of their personal style and tastes,” said Brandon Budimlija, associate product manager.

Expanded Hardware Offerings
In partnership with industry-leading hardware suppliers Ashley Norton, Baldwin®, Hoppe®, and EMTEK®, Weather Shield introduces a large expansion to its handle sets to offer customers additional personalization options. Starting in early 2018, Weather Shield will offer 34 new handle sets available in a range of styles and finishes for the doors within its Contemporary Collection™, Premium Series™, and Premium Coastal™ product lines.

Additionally, a recent trend toward “living finishes” has emerged for hardware in the industry. These highly desired finishes change naturally with use — caused by natural elements such as oxidation from air and natural oils from your hands, as well as soaps and more  — and develop a beautiful, vintage look over time that can range from subtle color changes like lightening or more dramatic changes to light browns, golds or even pink undertones. The handle sets from Ashley Norton, Baldwin and EMTEK will offer various living finish choices, which are designed to change with usage and develop a lustrous patina over time.

New Furniture-Grade Finishes

Weather Shield has also announced that its windows and doors are now available with 10 new furniture-grade stain offerings from Sherwin-Williams®. The new stain offerings provide a furniture-grade finish, meaning they have a visual appearance that reflects a fine, quality piece of furniture with a consistent finish throughout the window or door.

Our stain application process is similar to that of fine furniture where the finish s applied in a controlled factory environment by craftsmen with years of experience staining high-end windows and doors,” said Chris Schield, vice president of product marketing. “This factory-applied finish helps save time through a convenient solution that helps address the limited availability of highly skilled subcontractors that can offer such a service on the job site. Also, finish consistency, quality and durability are unmatched by other stain solutions applied on the job site.

Available in a breadth of dark to light tones, the new stain offerings provide clean, vivid finishes, along with excellent clarity and uniformity. A five-step finish application process that begins with a wood conditioner creates a consistent surface that allows the stain to absorb at an even rate, helping to reduce blotchiness and color variations. Additionally, a premium Italian polyurethane topcoat from Sayerlack, a brand of Sherwin-Williams, provides a long-lasting premium finish with non-yellowing properties that protect and enhance the beauty of the windows and doors.

Further, the new stain offerings are reflective of the latest trends in interior finishes — including the trend toward increasingly darker finishes — while also offering mainstay, traditional selections. The new stain selections will be available in early 2018.
