The Experts Have Spoken: Wellness, Serenity, Warmth & Originality Top This Year’s Home Design Trends

“Wellness” coupled with the ability to “transform any space into an oasis” are just two of the many trends emphasized by today’s home design experts.

“Wellness” coupled with the ability to “transform any space into an oasis” are just two of the many trends emphasized by today’s home design experts. According to House Beautiful, this includes the desire to “ease our anxieties” through the introduction of “calming colors,” “bold statement pieces” and “organic shapes” that will do “whatever it takes to bring your truest self into your living space.”1

Joining the conversation was also Houzz.com, which recently stated that in an “ever-changing world, many people are seeking stability — and joy — right at home.” This was further reinforced by the website and online design community when it recently published “35 Home Design Trends on the Rise in 2023.” In fact, the article heavily endorsed the virtues of natural materials that generate warmth,” “warm, soft palettes that elicit restful, relaxing atmospheres,” modern rustic styles that are “both rugged and cozy” and “deep connections to outdoor spaces” that collectively create “lively homes full of color, pattern, texture and optimism.”2

Tripling down on the general desire for at-home contentment was also Forbes, which declared that “a low maintenance home is vital to provide nothing but serenity and give you that much needed time to destress.” This was qualified by the desire to drench home environments with quality over quantity, serenity, nature, originality and decors that ooze atmospheric colors.3

And not to be forgotten, Good Housekeeping recently accented the conversation when it published the “25 Top Interior Design Trends for 2023, According to the Pros.”  Strongly recommended were the use of “muted colors,” “warm woods,” “soft modern designs” and “sustainability” as just a few of the must have for “adding more style, vigor and comfot to any design space.”
