Weather Shield Furthers Its True-to-Style Contemporary Aesthetic With New Custom-Designed Hardware

MEDFORD, Wis. – June 27, 2016 – In a quest to offer architects and custom homebuilders the most authentic, true-to-style contemporary products, Weather Shield® Windows & Doors has launched its new custom-designed Contemporary hardware. The new casement and awning nested handle set and sequential lock lever have squared-off, clean lines consistent with the company’s Contemporary Collection, and can be specified for that product line as well as the Premium Coastal product line.

“Weather Shield was intent on developing authentic, true-to-style contemporary hardware,” said David Gilson, business manager for Roto-Frank of North America, manufacturer of the hardware. “We sought input from architects and designers throughout our design process to ensure authenticity and acceptance by those who specialize in modern-style architecture.”

In addition to the new style, hardware is now available in polished chrome as well as the previously offered white, tan, brushed nickel, polished brass, black and rustic bronze.

“Weather Shield strives to provide the most architecturally correct product lines, down to the finer points,” said Dave Koester, brand manager for Weather Shield Windows & Doors. “Visual details, such as those in our new Contemporary hardware, are incredibly important to the architects and high-end custom builders we serve. These details are closely scrutinized and help separate Weather Shield from many other manufacturers.”

The Contemporary hardware pairs perfectly with the Contemporary Collection, which launched early in 2015. The product line has been popular with architects, custom builders, designers and homeowners for its narrow-profile frames, energy efficiency and thermal performance, and extensive options. It includes casement, awning, 90-degree vanishing corner and direct set windows as well as bi-fold, multi-slide, and hinged doors. Interior wood species include standard pine, Douglas fir, character alder, maple, oak, cherry and mahogany.

To achieve the look of steel windows, Weather Shield offers lustrous interior and exterior finishes important to the aesthetic of custom homes. Wood interiors on the company’s clad product lines can be finished in enamel coatings in black, white or a variety of standard colors, designer colors or custom color matching.

The exterior aluminum cladding can be finished in a paint color from the full palette of standard, designer and custom colors, or one of eight anodized finishes or metallic paint finishes of basic copper, warm silver, antique silver and espresso.
