400101 – Comprehensive Guide to Performance Testing and Certification Procedures for Windows & Doors

Upon completion of this course, participants will acquire the ability to comprehend the significance of performance testing in relation to the window and door products they specify. They will be able to recognize the procedures involved in laboratory testing and the specific methods employed to evaluate these products. Lastly, they will develop an understanding of the impact of design loads on windows and doors, as well as the factors involved in determining the appropriate design load for a structure. (1 LU/HSW)

400102 – Integrating Window & Door Products with the Building Envelope: Effective Installation Methods

Premature failures in the building envelope can result from the incorrect installation of fenestration products. This course will primarily concentrate on the best practices recommended by AAMA to mitigate such risks. Participants will gain an understanding of the significance of integrating a weather-resistant barrier during installation and how the various installation materials collaborate to establish a weather-tight opening. Furthermore, the course will provide an overview of non-flanged window installation specifically for retrofit applications.  (1 LU/HSW)

400103 – Fenestration Design and Use 2-Day

This is two full days of detail-oriented touring of manufacturing facilities. Included each day will be classroom presentations on topics related to fenestration in architecture. (9 LU/HSW)

400104 – High Performance Glazing Systems for Fenestration

This course aims to examine the essential components of high-performance glazing systems designed for windows and doors, emphasizing their role in enhancing the energy efficiency of buildings. The discussion will also explore the advantages of daylight utilization and delve into glazing technologies that enhance thermal efficiency of structures. (1 LU/HSW)

500101 – Fenestration Materials & Finishes

This course provides an in-depth exploration of the materials and finishes used in fenestration systems, focusing on their composition, application, and performance. Participants will learn to identify various frame materials, understand the characteristics of exterior and interior finishes, and evaluate their impact on performance and sustainability. Additionally, the course will address the environmental and health considerations associated with these materials in residential and commercial spaces. By the end of this course, learners will be equipped with the knowledge to make informed decisions about fenestration materials and their applications in modern building projects. (1 LU/HSW)

500102 – Fenestration Solutions for Contemporary Residential Architecture

Participants will explore fenestration products that enhance contemporary design, with a focus on frame and finish options that elevate aesthetics. The course will also address performance considerations for large windows and doors, including thermal and structural efficiency, privacy, and light control. Additionally, participants will learn how natural daylighting contributes to well-being and how these concepts are interconnected. By the end, participants will gain the knowledge to incorporate natural light and innovative fenestration to design beautiful, sustainable contemporary homes. (1 LU/HSW)

500103 – Historic Window Solutions

This course focuses on the importance of preserving historic culture while renovating cherished buildings. Participants will learn how to assess if a building qualifies as historic, how to make informed decisions about whether to restore or replace windows in historic structures, and how to choose the right windows to maintain the building’s historical integrity.
