Weather Shield embraces its role as a friend of the environment. Constructing new facilities, such as a manufacturing plant, can present some rather complicated environmental issues. Considerable planning and control measures are required to minimize the effects of runoff and air emissions from a site, both during and after construction.
Our Park Falls Division in North Central Wisconsin stands as a shining example of Weather Shield's commitment to environmental protection. The manufacturing facility, parking lots, loading docks and access roads required approximately 20 acres of land. Because more than one acre of wetlands were to be impacted during construction, Weather Shield underwent both "on-site" and "off-site" wetland compensatory mitigation that mandates the creation of new wetlands to replace those that are lost.
As a result, a storm water retention pond encompassing more than one acre was constructed on-site, and an off-site wetlands project of more than two acres was developed. Both wetland areas are protected and preserved into perpetuity as they provide water quality protection that would not have been a consideration 30 years ago.
Weather Shield remains as committed to preserving the environment we live and work in, as we are to the people we employ and the customers we serve.
